Bruin Boys Varsity Baseball Shuts Out Bandon

Adam Shew took the win for the Bruins, allowing zero runs on one hit, striking out seven and walking zero.

Sitting at 3-0 in non-league preseason play, the Bruins boys varsity team played their first home game of the season Tuesday afternoon. The 1-2 Bandon Tigers made the trip south Tuesday and took the field under cloudy skies.

After Shew held the Tigers to no runs in the top of the first, the Bruins made Shew’s day easy after an error scored the first run for the Bruins in the bottom of the first.

The Bruins scored six runs in the bottom of the second inning. The Bruin offense was led by Payton Armontrout, Roman Worthey, Vanginderen, and Andrew Burger, all driving in runs in the inning.

The Bruins tallied 13 hits on the day. Brig Schofield, Jon Kleespies, and Worthey each racked up multiple hits for the Bruins, with Schofield leading the team with three hits in three at bats. BHHS Bruins Baseball didn’t commit a single error in the field.
