Now well into their 2023/24 season, head coach Vanessa Nidiffer and her varsity girls volleyball team hosted the 4-3 North Valley Lady Knights Tuesday evening for their only home game during homecoming week.

Junior Jaci Arlandson, #15

The Bruin girls came out ready play from the opening serve, taking an early 11-7 lead on the Lady Knights in the first set of the match. Both teams would stay within a few points of each other through out the set as North Valley closed the gap to 15-13 before taking a 23-24 lead late before getting the final point and the set 23-25.

Junior Kami Koepnick, #7, on serve.

In the second set, again the evenly matched teams stayed close, changing leads to a 10-10 tie early in the set. Much like the first set, the Bruin girls stayed with the Lady Knights on hustle plays, getting the ball back on the North Valley side of the net and forcing Lady Knight errors on the return and keeping the score tied at 17-17. But the Lady Knights would put together a series of points to take a slight lead late, and eventually getting the 21-25 set win.

In the third set, the Lady Knights established an early 3-8 lead and successfully held their point margin into the mid-way point of the set preserving their 14-18 lead. The Bruin girls would battle back late, but the North Valley kept the pressure on to take the 18-25 set win, and the match.

Sophomore Ella Reneau, #5, and Kami Koepnick, #7, with the block at the net.

The Bruin girls will be on the road Thursday evening, traveling to Coquille to challenge the 5-3 Lady Red Devils with the first serve going up at 6:00pm.
