Tony Baron and his 4-4 Bruin girls varsity softball team hosted the 5-3 North Valley Lady Mustangs who made the trip from Grants Pass Tuesday afternoon as the spring sports season begins come to an end.

Coach Baron sent junior, Emmy Armstrong to the circle for the Bruin girls, who held the Lady Mustangs scoreless in the top half of the first before the Bruin girls take an early three run lead after one.

Armstrong would do the same in the second, keeping North Valley off the scoreboard through two. Again the Bruin girls offense would add to their lead, getting two more runs across the plate to take a five run lead into the third.

But a determined Lady Mustang team would rally back in the top of third, pushing four runs across the plate to trail by one after three before the Bruin girls would answer with another three runs of their own to hold onto an 8-4 lead.

However, North Valley would answer back with three more runs in the top of the fourth to close the gap to 8-7. The Bruin girls would get one more run across the plate in the bottom the inning to hold onto taking a 9-7 lead into the fourth.

Both teams would come out of the fifth scoreless, keeping a two run Bruin girls lead. But the Lady Mustangs would get another run across plate in the top of the sixth to get one run closer and trail 9-8 going into the seventh.

In the seventh inning, again Hidden Valley would work a run around the bases and hold the Bruin girls scoreless to tie the game at 9-9 after seven innings.

In extra innings, the Lady Mustangs would jump out ahead of the Bruin girls adding three more runs to take a 9-12 lead in extra innings. The Bruin girls would not be able to match the late Hidden Valley surge, pushing only one run across the plate, giving the Lady Mustangs the 10-12 win to end regular season play for the Bruin girls.
