Bruins Score in 30 Seconds in Shut-Out of Bulldogs

Brookings-Harbor varsity boys soccer coach Jess Beaman and his 3-0, #2 OSAA ranked Bruin team were at home to face off Tuesday afternoon with the 3-0 Sutherlin Bulldogs. The Bulldogs rolled into Brookings with 16 goals in their 3 games, while the Bruins had scored 32 times in 3 games.

It did not take long to see the offense on full display as the Bruins scored in the 29th SECOND of the first half. After pressing the opening kick-off, dispossessing the Bulldogs, and a couple give and go’s later and the ball was in the back of the net and the Bruins were up 1-0.

But the Bruins weren’t done there as they fed senior striker #13 Jair Valdovinos on a breakaway that resulted in the Bruins second goal WITHIN a MINUTE of play. And just like that, Sutherlin was looking at a 2-0 deficit, just ONE MINUTE into play.

Sutherlin settled in and tightened up the defense holding the Bruins offense for 30 minutes with tough determined defense. But, Bruin senior striker #13 Jair Valdovinos, who had 4 goals on the day, broke the defense down again putting the Bruins up 3-0 at the 31:00 minute mark.

Four Bruins were in the scoring column as the Bruins went on to another clean sheet for the Bruin defense and keeper junior Juan Hernandez while junior Rylan Bruce #5, sophomore Dylan Hodge, and sophomore Kai Seibert #20 tallied up an 8-0 shut out win.

The now 4-0 Bruins will now move on to the South Umpqua Lancers in Myrtle Creek Thursday afternoon at 5:00pm.
