CalTrans Works to Cut Time Delays at Last Chance Grade

CalTrans reported Friday, February 26th, that work on slide removal and prevention work along U.S. 101 at Last Chance Grade south of Crescent City has progressed to the point where significant cuts in delays could be expected beginning Saturday, February 27th.

Crews have been working through difficult conditions to remove tons of slide material, building berms, keeping the catchment area as clear as possible while readying additional prevention methods as the slope has been drying.

Spotters will continue to be utilized 24-7 to make sure the traveling public is allowed safe passage in an effort to limit delays to approximately 30 minutes on Saturday and Sunday, weather permitting.
