Coast Guard Rescues 2, 1 Dies After Boat Capsizes Near Newport

According to reports from the U.S. Coast Guard, a vessel with three people aboard capsized just outside the jetty near Newport, Oregon Friday morning, December 17th.

A U.S. Coast Guard Motor Lifeboat Crew and an MH-65 Dolphin rescue helicopter crew were immediately dispatched to initial reports of a recreational 22-foot pleasure craft approximately a mile off shore just before 10:00am Friday morning.

A man and a woman were pulled from the water, both wearing life vests, and were transferred to medical personnel. A third male was also pulled from the water unconscious and unresponsive and was later pronounced deceased after being transferred to emergency medical services.
