Crescent City Police Subdue Suicidal Man

Just after 9:00am, Sunday morning, April 26th, Officers from the Crescent City Police Department responded to 3rd Street in Crescent City for a report of a suspicious male subject who had blood on his hands.

Upon arrival to the area, Crescent City Police Officers located a 36 year old male adult bleeding from a self-inflicted wound to his neck area at the back of the Chase Bank Building.

The subject immediately began cutting his neck area further with a razor blade in front of the officers as they tried to de-escalate the situation and talk to him. The subject then yelled for the officers to shoot him and kill him because he wanted to die.

The Crescent City Police Officer was able to quickly deploy his TASER, and although it did not make a full connection. However, Officers were then able to get the subject detained in handcuffs and immediately began medical care applying gauze to his neck area as he tried to fight them and crawl away to prevent potential life saving measures.

The subject then stated he was trying to get the officers to take his life because he couldn’t do it himself as both officers provided medical care until Emergency Medical Services and Fire arrived on scene and took over.

The male subject was then transported to Sutter Coast Hospital and placed on a Mental Health hold.
