Curry County Remains at ‘Low Risk’ as State Numbers Slow

The state of Oregon continues to test at a rate of approximately 100,000 individuals per week as the number of infections continues to slow to under 1000 individuals a day for the first time since early October before Oregon doubled its weekly testing.

197,000 individuals have tested positive for the COVID-19 virus in the state of Oregon and only 214 individuals were hospitalized in the past week, putting the total of Oregon residents requiring hospitalization at 8,185 individuals since the outbreak began, and unfortunately 2,094 have died.

Curry County remains in the ‘lower risk’ category according to the metrics of Governor Brown’s County Risk Assessment. Del Norte county to the south has become one of only two California counties in the ‘red zone’ or ‘substantial’ category of Governor Newsom’s risk assessment.

Curry County’s latest numbers as reported Friday by the Oregon Health Authority, February 13th, now reports testing 7,858 individuals with 7,566 negative tests, 292 total positive COVID-19 tests and after adding 25 new cases in the last week has recorded 367 total cases and now 6 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic.

Del Norte County Department of Health and Human Services reported testing 12,745 with 11,823 negative results, 31 active cases and 922 total confirmed cases reported by Public Health, with 2 current hospitalization and now 4 deaths.

Coos County to the north, reported testing 29,953 individuals with 28,670 negative tests and added 108 new cases last week with now 1,283 total positive cases and 17 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic.

Josephine County reports testing 43,553 individuals with 41,533 negative results, 2020 total positive cases of COVID-19 and 45 deaths.

Humboldt County to the south of Del Norte County reports 3,009 total cases after testing 69,733 individuals with 65,723 negative results, 168 active cases, 2,809 recoveries, 124 hospitalizations, and 32 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic as of Friday, February 13th.

Jackson County continues to see significant increases after testing 164,910 individuals with 155,028 negative test results, 7,861 total cases of COVID-19 with now 106 deaths as of Friday, February 13th.
