The Del Norte County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that 33 year old Neil Hiller was arrested by Del Norte County Sheriff’s Officers Monday, April 26th, as a suspect for the homicide of Joseph Deford.
As earlier reported by the Wild Coast Compass, 22 year old Joseph Deford was found unresponsive by Officers responding to reports of a man lying on the ground near the 200 block of Harding Avenue in Crescent City.
Life-saving efforts, including CPR and the administration of naloxone, were attempted before Deford was transported to Sutter Coast Hospital and was unable to be revived. It was later discovered that Deford also had a presumed small caliber gunshot wound located in his back.
