Oregon State Police and emergency personnel including units from Rural Metro Fire, Illinois Valley Fire District and the Oregon Department of transportation were dispatched just before 1:00am Thursday morning to reports of a single vehicle crash on Highway 199 just outside of Wonder near Hayes Hill Rd.

First responders from Rural Metro Fire arrived to the scene finding a vehicle off the roadway, upside-down and fully consumed with fire which spread into surrounding brush and was quickly contained resulting in Highway 199 being closed for approximately 3 hours.

Preliminary investigation by the Oregon State Police revealed that a southbound Toyota Tundra crossed the northbound lane of travel before exiting the roadway at a high rate of speed. The vehicle then went up an embankment, rolling over at least once before coming to rest on its top, igniting, and burning completely.

The unidentified driver suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
