Firefighters Save Home and Two Cats in Late Evening Fire

Late Wednesday evening, March 15th, Rural Metro Fire and Grants Pass Fire/Rescue units were dispatched to reports of a house fire on Leonard Rd. in Redwood just east of Grants Pass just before 10:00pm.

First responding units observed fire on the back patio that was spreading to the interior of the single-wide manufactured home including the attic and kitchen.

Firefighters quickly attacked the blaze, extinguishing the patio and stopping the fires advancement throughout the rest of the home.

As firefighters contained the fire and it was confirmed that all occupants escaped with out injury, medics with American Medical Response worked to revive the two cats, using oxygen delivered through special ‘pet-resuscitation masks’ carried on emergency vehicles and both cats were recovering when firefighters left the scene early Thursday morning.
