Gold Beach Woman Dies in Sunday Crash that Closes Hwy. 126 for 5 hours

Early Sunday evening, February 27th, Oregon State Police and emergency personnel responded to a report of a two-vehicle head on collision on Hwy. 126W near milepost 28.

Hwy. 126W was closed for approximately 5 hours following the crash while Oregon State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit completed an investigation into the crash.

Preliminary investigation at the crash scene revealed that an eastbound silver Hyundai Santa Fe, operated by 24 year old Sadie Ann Cervantes of Florence, left its lane of travel for an unknown reason. The Hyundai crossed into the oncoming westbound lane and collided head-on into a white Toyota Prius, operated by 47 year old June Michele Lemke of Gold Beach.

Lemke sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased. Cervantes was transported to an area hospital with injuries.

Our condolences to the Lemke family.
