Early Wednesday evening, March 25th, 2026, multiple agencies, including the Grants Pass Police Department, the Josephine County Sheriff’s Office, and the Oregon State Police responded to emergency calls reporting a shooting at an address in northeast Grants Pass at approximately 6:05pm.
Upon arrival, two adult males who had been shot were located by police personnel, and immediate medical care was administered to both victims by both Grants Pass Fire/Rescue and American Medical Response before being transported by ambulance to Three Rivers Medical Center.

Numerous witnesses were interviewed at the scene, and it was confirmed that the suspect fled in a vehicle immediately after the shooting.
One victim, an 18-year-old male, succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the hospital. The second victim, a 24-year-old male, suffered significant but non-life-threatening injuries.
The Grants Pass Police Department’s Major Crimes Unit assumed responsibility for the investigation, with assistance from Oregon State Police Detectives and the Josephine County District Attorney’s Office and due to the seriousness of the crimes, numerous agencies participated in the search for the suspect.
After several hours of investigation and intelligence gathering, the suspect, identified as 21 year old Kyler Talbot, was located in a hotel room in Jackson County and was taken into custody without incident by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office SWAT Team and Grants Pass Police.
Talbot was arrested and lodged in the Josephine County Jail on multiple charges, including Murder in the Second Degree, 2 counts of Unlawful Use of a Weapon, and Assault in the First Degree.
