Hiker Rescued after Good Samaritan Hikes for Help

A February 21st, Sunday hike to the popular Rainie Falls on the lower section of the Rogue River, turned traumatic for a hiker that fell off the trail this afternoon. Thankfully another hiker passing by was able to go for help, which ultimately required driving 3 miles to the closest house near Rand to use a landline.

Just after 1:30pm, multiple rescue crews from Rural Metro Fire, American Medical Response and other local search and rescue personnel from Josephine County Search and Rescue, mobilized for the extraction. Firefighters and medics reached the scene and initiated medical care, and soon after hauled the patient up to the trail.

Search and Rescue arrived and assisted with transport out the trail to the Graves Creek Bridge, where a medical transport helicopter with Reach Air Medical Services flew the patient to a trauma hospital in Medford, with serious but non life-threatening injuries.
