Investigation and Search Warrant Yield Over Two and a Half Pounds of Meth and One Arrest

Humboldt County Drug Task Force Agents with assistance from the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office, served a search warrant Tuesday, February 27th, on a man the task force had been investigating since early January 2022.

Maximo Espitta

63 year old Maximo Espitta, from Eureka, was observed traveling from Humboldt County to Modesto, California. Upon his return to Humboldt County, Agents conducted a traffic stop on his vehicle.

During this stop, an open-air sniff on the vehicle was conducted by Humboldt County Drug Task Force K9 Rex, who alerted to the vehicle indicating drugs were present.

Inside the vehicle, Agents located Mr. Espitta and over two and a half pounds of methamphetamine.

Mr. Espitta was transported to the Humboldt County Correctional Facility where he was booked on multiple charges including, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Transportation of a Controlled Substances for Sales, and Transportation of a Controlled Substance through Non-Contiguous Counties.
