Investigation into Images of Child Exploitation Leads to Discovery of a Local Victim and Arrest

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office released information Monday, August 16th, regarding a case that began after the Southern Oregon Child Exploitation Team received tips from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children that numerous images of child exploitation were uploaded from a residence in Butte Falls which revealed a local victim.

Jackson County Sheriff’s Office Patrol deputies and the Southern Oregon Child Exploitation Team served a search warrant July 26th at the Butte Falls residence and seized several digital devices. Based on evidence uncovered at the scene, 28 year old Joshua Remington Pettry was arrested.

Southern Oregon High Tech Crimes Task Force forensically examined the devices and uncovered further evidence of child exploitation with a local victim. This led to additional charges before Pettry was lodged in the Jackson County Jail on charges of using a child in the display of sexually explicit content, first-degree sodomy, first-degree sexual abuse, and incest.
