Lady Bruins Split Double Header with Reedsport

Madison Taylor went five innings, allowing two runs on five hits and striking out four.

Coach Tony Baron’s Lady Bruins softball split a pre-season doubleheader against a well prepared Lady Braves team from Reedsport.

In the first game of the day, the Bruins Gracie Harms started the game for the Lady Bruins allowing zero hits and four runs over three and two-thirds innings, striking out nine. But a resourceful Lady Brave team took advantage of every opportunity the Lady Bruins provided.

Even though the Lady Bruins out hit the Lady Braves 11-10, and freshman Madison Taylor had a towering grand slam in the bottom of the 6th inning, the Lady Bruins could not get past the Lady Braves and ultimately fell 12-8.

In the second game of the Double Dip, the Lady Bruins wasted no time jumping on the Lady Braves putting up 7 runs in the first inning.

The Lady Braves managed 2 runs in the top of the second, but the Lady Bruins racked up 10 more runs in the next two innings and ended the game in the middle of the fifth inning 17-3.

Madison Taylor earned the victory on the rubber for the Lady Bruins going five innings, allowing two runs on five hits and striking out four.

The Lady Bruin offense totaled 17 hits in the game. Taylor, Peters, Allison Graves, Hannah James, Harms, and Crosby all managed multiple hits. Peters and Taylor each collected three hits to lead the Lady Bruins. Brookings-Harbor stole seven bases during the game as two players stole more than one. Allison Graves #26 led the way with two in the 17-3 victory.
