Lady Bruins Varsity Split Two on the Road

The Lady Bruins traveled twice this past week taking their undefeated league record into North Bend first on Tuesday afternoon.

The Lady Bulldogs also boasted an undefeated league record coming into Tuesday’s matchup. The undefeated Lady Bruins came into the game with 15 goals in their first 2 league games while the Lady Bulldogs brought 20 points of offense into the match.

Brooking-Harbor would play well, but the Bulldogs would take advantage of fresh legs on their home field and hold off the Lady Bruins.

The Bulldogs would shut down the speed game of the Bruins and hold their defensive line to take the game 2-0 remaining undefeated at 3-0 in league play. This would be the first league game in which the Lady Bruins would fail to get on the scoreboard, putting them at 2-1 on the season.

Thursday had the Lady Bruins on the road again to South Umpqua/Riddle. Brookings-Harbor came into the game with a 2-1 record while the South Umpqua/Riddle team sat with a 1-1-1 record.

The Lady Bruins still feeling their 2-0 loss to North Bend would not be denied on Thursday, as they would rebound with solid defense and a rejuvenated offensive effort.

Senior Captain #18 Abby Farmer’s defense would stifle South Umpqua/Riddle throughout the game, not allowing the opponents the opportunity to organize and allowing only one goal during the game.

The Lady Bruins offense would get three different scorers on the board. #17 Anna Serna, #2 Stephanie Birks, and #10 forward Avana Pettus would all find the back of the net lifting the Lady Bruins to a 3-1 win and getting the girls back into the win column.

Next week the Lady Bruins look to continue to add to the win column when they meet a 1-1-2 Marshfield team at home on Tuesday afternoon at 5:00 PM.
