Man Arrested with Two Firearms, Over a Half Pound of Fentanyl, and Meth

According to a Humboldt County Drug Task Force press release, on February 1st, the Fortuna Police Department and the Rio Dell Police Department with the Humboldt County Drug Task Force served a search warrant on 44 year old Thomas James Toohey from Humboldt County after agents observed Toohey travel from Humboldt County to the Bay Area.

A traffic stop was conducted on his vehicle when Toohey returned to Humboldt County, and Fortuna Police Department K9 Cain conducted an open-air sniff on the vehicle alerting to the vehicle indicating drugs were present.  

Agents located over a half pound of fentanyl and approximately 3 grams of methamphetamine inside the vehicle.

At Toohey’s residence in Rio Dell, two firearms, ammunition, a large amount of a cutting agent for Fentanyl (lactose), 2 grams of methamphetamine, and approximately 30 grams of non-prescription narcotics.

Thomas James Toohey was booked on multiple charges including, Possession of controlled substance for sales, Transportation of a controlled substance, Transportation of a controlled substance through noncontiguous counties, Convicted Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Maintaining a Drug House, Felon in Possession of Ammunition, Possession of a Controlled Substance while Armed and Possession of a Controlled Substance.
