Social Media Assists Authorities in Burglary Arrest

The Eureka Police Department was dispatched to an address on I Street Tuesday, March 19th, regarding a report of a residential burglary which the subsequent investigation revealed actually occurred during the night on March 18th and included the theft of a large quantity of construction equipment from a job site according to a press release from the Eureka Police Department.

The victim was able to locate surveillance footage of the suspect and placed still photos taken from the surveillance on social media asking for assistance in identifying the suspect.

Adare Armes

A suspect matching the description was located by a citizen who provided a clear photograph to police.

Eureka Police Officers responded to a residence after receiving a tip the suspect had been there, and located the suspect, identified as Adare Armes, before he was detained in the back yard.  

Eureka Police Detectives authored a search warrant for Armes’ living area and recovered several items taken during the burglary. During the investigation Officers learned additional stolen property was likely stored in a vehicle nearby.  

Eureka Police Detectives canvassed the area and were able to locate a vehicle containing the remaining stolen property and a second search warrant was obtained before the additional stolen property was retrieved .

Armes was placed under arrest on charges including, burglary, and possession of stolen property, and currently remains in custody.
