Talking X’s and O’s with BHHS Football Coach Shaun Bavaro

The program is moving forward and we continue to improve each day. We’re happy to be 3-0, but we’re no where we we want to be. We need to focus on playing all four quarters at a high level and we have had glimpses of what we really can be as team this year.

We were very basic last year with our schemes on defense and offense. We have now started working on that next chapter of the playbook both on offense and defense. Kids have a good foundation, now that most of our kids are in their second year of the program.

Being able to add to our schemes and move players around to create match-ups will help us when we go down the gauntlet at end of the season. If we continue to push our level of play, the team continues to play for each other and our effort in practice. We’re pretty confident that it will give our program a chance to be in every game from here on out.

As far as injuries are concerned, nothing major, just those nagging injures that players have to play through. We will continue to develop our depth at each position, so we can have the ability to give our starters some breaks. We’re hoping to use some of our new schemes vs Lakeview this Saturday, giving us live game action on film to evaluate.

Lakeview is a Physical team that has great size up front. They are a spread team that really focuses on getting the ball to #10. He is very good football player. #12 Qb has good feet and can make throws.

The Bruin defense was strong all night keeping the Honkers from controlling the middle of the field as the Bruins defeated the Honkers 21-20 at home last year.

They will move #10 all over the field. So on defense we will need to identify where #10 is at all times. He is special player on both sides of the ball. Their defensive line is aggressive and the defensive backs look like they cover good in zone and man coverages.
