Thunder Storms Pound Central Oregon

Thunder and lightning storms struck areas of central Oregon Wednesday afternoon causing more than a dozen small fires from hundreds of lightning strikes. Heavy rain saturated areas still recovering from last years fires sending mud across the McKenzie Highway west of Sisters, closing the road.

According to the US National Weather Service in Medford, just over 700 strikes struck in the Medford forecast area! No thunderstorms are forecast today, but temperatures will be warming up as we head into the weekend.

Temperatures are expected to heat up each day through Saturday, with a few days of high temperatures breaking 100 degrees expected for the hottest valleys of interior southern Oregon and northern California.
