According to information released by the US National Weather Service Portland Oregon, after a tsunami watch Tuesday morning, a DART Buoy, used for detecting tsunami waves, washed up on shore Tuesday morning of all days.

A buoy broke from it’s mooring 230 miles west of Astoria on October 4, which is likely where this Buoy came from. However, this has not been confirmed.

The current along the coastline is generally less than 5 cm/s or ~.11 mph. Therefore, the minimum time it would take the Buoy to travel the 251 miles from the typical location to Yachats, without other factors would be around 93 days. Therefore, since it has been 111 days since October 4th, this timing would make sense.
