Warrant to Recover Stolen Tractor Leads to 3 Arrests on Multiple Counts Including Animal Neglect

The Josephine County Sheriff’s Office with the assistance of the US Marshalls Office and Josephine County Animal Control, executed a search warrant obtained to recover a stolen John Deere tractor, Tuesday, March 28th, in Cave Junction, Oregon.

During the execution of the warrant to recover the stolen tractor located on the property, the occupants of the residence, 37 year old Joseph Larue and 36 year old Danielle Brown, were contacted and detained without incident.

Deputies located the tractor and while executing the search warrant also discovered 10 dogs in a garage, some of which were in cages. The living conditions for the dogs did not appear to meet the requirements of “providing minimum care” and a second search warrant was applied for and granted to seize the dogs and Josephine County Animal Control transported the dogs to the animal shelter.

Joseph Larue and Danielle Brown are the suspects of a previous animal neglect case from September 2022 involving a local business they co-owned called Pawsitive K-9 Solutions Learn and Board, LLC when deputies and Animal Control Officers recovered 13 canines all at different levels of malnourishment with some requiring immediate care from veterinarians.

Joseph was arrested for his involvement and has been out on bail with stipulations he does not possess or have contact with animals. Danielle was able to avoid contact with law enforcement and a nationwide extradition warrant was issued for her arrest.

While Deputies were still conducting their investigation, 38 year old Jason Larue, the brother of Joseph Larue, arrived on scene and became hostile. After refusing to leave the property, he was taken into custody for Interfering with a Peace Officer.

All three subjects were transported and lodged at the Josephine County Jail on multiple charges individually, including Unlawful Use of a Vehicle, Animal NeglectMul, 28 Counts of Animal Neglect in the Second Degree and 28 Counts of Animal Abandonment in the Second Degree as well as other charges.
