Elderly Woman Leads Authorities on High Speed Chase Reaching 112 mph

Just before midnight, Friday, November 4th, Josephine County Sheriff’s deputies spotted a vehicle traveling south on Interstate 5 near Merlin, reaching speeds of 112 mph.

Multiple agencies and Josephine County Sheriff’s deputies attempted to pull the vehicle over before the suspect attempted to elude officers.

Jackson County Sheriff’s deputies then attempted to flatten the vehicles tires as the car crossed into Jackson County, and took over the pursuit on Interstate 5 just after midnight very early Saturday morning.

During the pursuit the suspect vehicles tires were spiked at least 7 times by authorities, however, the suspect continued driving for almost 20 miles, from Central Point to I-5 exit 14 in Ashland, without tires.

Ultimately a Pursuit Intervention Technique was conducted to stop the vehicle and the 75 year old female suspect was taken into custody and lodged in the Jackson County Jail on charges of elude and reckless driving.

There were no injuries reported during the incident.
