Authorities Seek Subject After Man is Shot While Hunting

Jackson County Sheriff’s Office and Multiple Law Enforcement Agencies including U.S. Forest Service Law Enforcement, Bureau of Land Management Law Enforcement, and Oregon State Police responded after receiving a call regarding a reported gunshot wound victim just after noon, Friday, November 4th.

The victim was reportedly hunting in the area of Conde Creek Rd. and South Fork Little Butte Creek Rd. with two partners when he was shot in the leg from close range. The victim yelled out after being shot, and the suspect reportedly left the scene.

A witness spotted a white Chevy truck with a canopy leaving the area and upon preliminary investigation the incident appears to be a hunting accident, however, further details are unclear at this time.

After being shot the victim drove to the intersection of West Fork Little Butte Creek Rd. and Lake Creek Rd. where a Jackson County Sheriff’s deputy applied first aid to the wound. A Mercy Flights ambulance arrived and transported him to a local hospital where he was treated for superficial injuries.

This case is under further investigation and Jackson County Sheriff’s detectives have assumed the investigation and are following additional leads as Multiple Law Enforcement Agencies are attempting to locate the suspect vehicle.
