Woman Rescued at Popular Hiking Destination, God’s Thumb

Early Sunday afternoon, May 24th, multiple agencies including the United States Coast Guard and North Lincoln Fire & Rescue were dispatched to a report of an injured female, just south of the popular hiking destination, God’s Thumb, just before 2:00pm.

Upon arrival, first responders located the patient approximately halfway down the cliff face in difficult terrain upon arrival, however, after observing the location and complexity of the rescue, additional resources were requested.

As fire crews worked to safely access the patient to stabilized and prepare her for aerial extraction, an MH-65 Dolphin aircrew from U.S. Coast Guard Air Facility Newport was dispatched to extract the patient who sustained non-life-threatening injuries during a fall.

Despite difficult terrain and coastal cliffs, the aircrew hoisted her and transported her to waiting medical care at Samaritan North Lincoln Hospital.
