2 People Shot After Altercation in Eureka

On Wednesday evening, December 20th, the Eureka Police Department responded to the report of a shooting that had occurred in Eureka according to a press release from the Eureka Police Department.  

The reporting party suffered from multiple gunshot injuries. Medical aid was dispatched to their location and the victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Initial investigation reveals that a group of juveniles and young adults were at Coopers Gulch park area where one person in the group got into a physical altercation with a female.

After the altercation, the female left the scene before the same female returned a short time later with several other individuals, all inside of a vehicle. When they encountered the group of juveniles and young adults from the altercation, the right front passenger produced a firearm and shot several rounds at the group before fleeing the area.

It was also learned from the preliminary investigation that a second person in the group suffered a non-life-threatening injury as a result of a gunshot wound. This individual was also treated at a local hospital.

The Eureka Police Department say that even though the shooter’s identity is unknown at this time, this appears to be an isolated incident and there no known direct threats to the community.   If you have any information about this incident, please contact the Eureka Police Department at (707) 798-0191.
