Bruin Boys Complete the Sweep Dominating North Valley

Sophomore left-hander, Brody Bavaro, #21, went 3 innings, allowed 4 runs off of 3 hits, striking out 4.

Coming off a six game win streak after being on the road, the Bruin boys varsity baseball team hosted the North Valley Knights for doubleheader Friday afternoon.

Junior, Owen Austin, #10, hitting the cut-off from leftfield.

Coach Wallin sent sophomore left-hander, #21, Brody Bavaro to the mound to start the early game Friday afternoon. Bavaro started by setting the pace in the early game, holding North Valley scoreless in the first, setting up a four run bottom of the first answer by the Bruins to give the Bruins an early 4-0 lead.

Senior, #8, Sammy Broulliard, throwing the runner out from third.

North Valley came out in the second putting a runner on the bases before moving that runner across the plate to get the Knights on the scoreboard and then keeping the Bruin bats quiet for the next two innings while continuing to put points on the board in the top of the third to tie the score at 4-4 after three.

Senior, Preston Gerovac, #12, using his fundamentals to secure the grounder in leftfield.

But that would be it for the Knights failing to score in the top of the fourth before the Bruin boys added six in their bottom half of the fourth, increasing their lead once again by six before holding North Valley scoreless in the top of the fifth and adding another four runs to end the first game  14-4 in the bottom of the fifth.

Senior catcher, RJ Hendrix, #6, went 2 for 4 at the plate, scoring once with 1 RBI.

Coach Wallin mixed it up to start the second game, sending senior right-hander, #7, Lincoln Rosenberg to the hill to start for the Bruins in late game. Again Bruin pitching dominated the early innings as Rosenberg held the scoreless allowing another early lead for the Bruins who would score twice in the bottom of the first.

Senior, Lincoln Rosenberg, #7, went 3 innings in the second game, allowing 1 hit, striking out 5.

The Knights struggled early at the plate as Rosenberg sat down the side in both the second and third innings as the Bruin bats added another three runs in the bottom of the third to take a 5-0 lead after three.

Freshman, Tucker Delay, #24, making the play at shortstop.

Senior right-hander, #8, Sammy Broulliard, was sent in by coach Walling to start the fourth who continued the Bruin dominance on the mound Friday afternoon, holding the Knights scoreless through the seventh after the Bruins added on in the bottom of the fourth to take the second game 9-0 win and complete the three game series sweep.

Junior, Aiden Holmes, #5, turning the double-play.

The Bruin boys, now sitting at 6-0 in league play, will be on the road next week challenging the Lakeview Honkers in a three game series in Medford at Lithia Park first on Tuesday, with the first pitch set for 2:00pm, followed by a double-header with the first game scheduled at 1;00pm, Friday afternoon.
