BHHS Runners Travel to Rogue Valley for Final District Meet with Hopes of State Qualifiers

On Wednesday Oct 13th, coach Jason Fulton and the BHHS Cross Country Team competed in the Humboldt Del Norte League’s Arcata Marsh Run located on a beautiful Arcata Marsh area on the Humboldt Bay.

64 high school male runners from Arcata, Eureka, Hoopa, McKinleyville, Del Norte, Fortuna, BHHS, and North Coast Prep Athletes ran 3.1 miles on a dirt and gravel walking trail on a very windy day.

Everest Abblitt placed 9th with a time of 18.59 and Kyan Myers ran his best race of the season finishing in 26.34.

On the girls side, there were 42 female runners. senior Miranda Roberts running for the Lady Bruins, ran her best race of the season, placing 38th with a time of 34.27.

Last Tuesday, October 19th, the Bruin boys, Ablitt, Myers, and Speir ran at the Del Norte golf course with Del Norte High School, Eureka, Arcata, McKinleyville, and Fortuna.

Ablitt finished 8th with a personal best time of 18:38. Speir finished in 20:56, also a personal best, for 24th, and Kyan Myers finished the course in 31:31.

Head coach Jason Fulton and his team will be traveling to Valley of the Rogue State Park Thursday (today) with hopes of BHHS runners, including Ablitt Myers, ranked fourth and looking to finish his final district meet with a personal best, can qualify for State.
