Crash and Gunfire Leads to Arrest

Late Monday night, just after 10:15pm, July 19th, authorities at the Josephine County Sheriff’s Office received reports of a vehicle crash on Kerby Mainline Rd. near Kerby Oregon, and that a firearm had been fired at the scene.

Within minutes, Sheriff’s Deputies arrived to a scene that included a Ford Bronco that had crashed into a tree, and a Toyota pick-up that had rolled and settled on its top. Deputies found both vehicles unoccupied and both parties had allegedly left the scene.

Animal control was dispatched to the scene to retrieve a dog that had been left in the rolled over pick-up. The animal was appeared uninjured and was taken to the Josephine County Animal Shelter.

29 year old Cody William Morgan

Authorities identified and located the occupants of both vehicles where it was revealed to Deputies that the driver of the Bronco, identified 29 year old Cody William Morgan, had allegedly threatened to kill the driver of the rolled-over Toyota pick-up and had fired a shot at him.

The female passenger in the Toyota pick-up was transported to Asante Three Rivers Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries, and 29-year-old Cody William Morgan was subsequently arrested and charged with Menacing, Unlawful Use of a Weapon, and Attempted Criminal Homicide.
