Crescent City Police K9 Deployed in Arrest of Assault Suspect

Sunday morning, March 11th, Officers with the Crescent City Police Department responded to reports of an assault at an address on Northcrest Drive in Crescent City at approximately 9:00am.

The suspect, identified as 37 year old Christopher Moore, was located by officers upon arrival and attempts were made to detain him. Moore refused several verbal commands and then began resisting arrest.   Moore also threatened one Officer prior to turning toward another Officer and K9 Officer, Sgt. Kostya. Sgt. Kostya was deployed and several verbal commands and warnings to stop resisting arrest were given to the suspect.

Moore then threatened one Officer and went towards another Officer in an apparent attempt to attack them. Based upon the suspects previous history of assaulting law enforcement officers and his threats and physical actions during this investigation and contact, Sgt. Koysta was then deployed to apprehend the suspect. Moore then quickly complied with verbal commands from officers and was taken into custody without further incident.  

After receiving medical treatment at Sutter Coast Hospital Moore was booked into the Del Norte County Jail for multiple violations including Battery, Battery on a Peace Officer, Obstruct/Resist a Peace Officer, and Violation of Parole.
