High Speed Chase of Two Stolen Vehicles, Ends with One Arrest after Crash

Late Tuesday evening, January 23rd, Deputies with the Josephine County Sheriff’s Office located two stolen vehicles which were being driven on Fish Hatchery Road at approximately 10:00pm.

After deputies attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the two stolen vehicles, in an apparent attempt to elude authorities, the stolen vehicles increased their speed as Deputies pursued the stolen vehicles on Fish Hatchery Road and then onto Cheney Creek Road.

At one point of the pursuit, one stolen vehicle was able to evade capture after one of the two stolen vehicles failed to negotiate a corner and Deputies stopped with the spun-out stolen vehicle.

Deputies then attempted to order the driver out of the vehicle, however, the suspect then backed into a pursing patrol car entangling the stolen vehicle’s tow hitch to the patrol car’s push bumper as the driver continued to attempt to flee, dragging the patrol car behind it.

In an effort to disable the suspect vehicle, a Deputy discharged their firearm at a tire to effectively disabling the vehicle. Once the suspect vehicle was stopped, the suspect failed to follow the commands of Deputies and was taken into custody after a brief struggle.

One Deputy received minor injuries during the struggle to arrest the suspect and was treated and released at a local hospital.

The suspect was identified as 32 year old Asa Martinson Squire. Martinson Squire was transported to the Josephine County Jail and lodged on multiple charges including, Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle, Resisting Arrest, Recklessly Endangering Another, Reckless Driving, Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Escape and Criminal Mischief II.
