High Surf Advisory Issued

The National Weather Service in Medford has issued a High Surf Advisory…which is in effect from 11 AM Saturday to 5 AM PDT Sunday.

A large west swell will arrive late Saturday morning and produce breakers of around 23 feet through Saturday night.

Late Saturday morning through Saturday night.

Locations Include…Along the south Oregon coast from Florence to the California state line.

Sudden and unusually high beach run-up is possible. This can take beachgoers by surprise resulting in possible injury or drowning. Logs and other debris can become lifted and floated, increasing risk to those in or near the water.

Big Saturday! A 996 millibar storm with hurricane-force winds has developed near the International Date Line.

A 7 to 9 foot WNW swell (with a 22- to 24-second period) will arrive Saturday a.m., rapidly building to 13 to 15 feet (with an 18- to 20-second period) on Saturday p.m.

*Remember, to stay off of jetties, low lying areas, and areas affected by large breaking waves. View from a safe distance, and never turn your back on the ocean.
