Man Arrested after Fleeing the Scene of Domestic Violence Assault

Coos County Dispatch received a 911 call regarding a domestic disturbance just after 8:40am Sunday morning November 26th. As deputies were responding, they were informed by Dispatch that a male in the background could be heard yelling further threats of harm to the caller.

Upon arrival, the victim was found bleeding from her head, and it was learned that the male, identified as 38 year old Joshua Cantu, had left the area.  

The subsequent investigation revealed that Mr. Cantu had hit the victim with a pole and thrown several other items as medical personnel transported the victim to receive treatment for her injuries.

Deputies attempted to locate Mr. Cantu in the area with the help of  K9 Poe, but all attempts were unsuccessful.  

Mr. Cantu was ultimately located early Monday morning, November 27th, just after 7:22am at the crime scene.  

Mr. Cantu was arrested and transported to the Coos County Jail for the crimes of Domestic Assault 4 and Unlawful Use of a Weapon.
