Man Arrested on Multiple Charges After Firing Weapons During Altercation

Late Friday evening, March 3rd, officers with the Medford Police Department as well as Jackson County Sheriff’s Deputies, and Central Point Police Officers were dispatched to reports of a shots fired situation with a possible gunshot victim at the Wendy’s restaurant located on N. Pacific Highway, just before 10:30pm.  

Upon arrival of first responders, a gunshot victim was not located, however, multiple .45 caliber shell casings were found on scene.  

It was determined after officers spoke with witnesses, that the suspect, 47 year old Gershon Orozco, was in an argument with two individuals over money owed while in possession of a handgun and AR-15 rifle.

During the argument Orozco fired multiple shots in the air. As the victims began to drive away, Orozco fired several more rounds at their vehicle. The altercation led to the overpass of Table Rock Road where the victims were able to flee on foot.  

Orozco was contacted by Jackson County Sheriff’s Deputies a short time later in his vehicle and an article search was conducted by a Jackson County Sheriff’s Office K-9 and evidence was located, however, at this time the involved pistol has not been recovered.  

Orozco was taken into custody without incident and has been charged and lodged at the Jackson County Jail on multiple charges including 4th Degree Assault – Domestic Abuse, Attempted Assault 1, Reckless Endangering, Unlawful Use of a Weapon, and Felon in Possession of a Firearm.
