Just before 4:30pm Friday afternoon June 19th, the Illinois Valley Fire District was dispatched to a traffic accident on Takilma Rd. outside of O’Brien.
First responders to arrive on scene came upon a converted school bus that had crossed into the oncoming lane, left the roadway and collided with a tree.
The violent collision trapped the driver of the bus in the cab which required multiple extrication techniques to free the victim who suffered unspecified injuries.
After the extrication was completed, the driver was flown by Mercy Lifeflight to the hospital for further treatment.
